2019 Mid-Atlantic Field Crop Weed Management Guide
The 2019 updated version of the “Mid-Atlantic Field Crop Weed Management Guide” is available. This guide is collaboratively developed by weed scientists from Penn State, , Univ. of Delaware, Univ. of Maryland, Rutgers University, Virginia Tech, and West Virginia Univ.
The guide covers weed management for field corn, sorghum, soybean, small grains, and forage and pastures. Information concerning the use, restrictions, and recommendations of burndown, preemergence, and postemergence herbicides labeled on these crops can be found in the guide, including relative effectiveness data from locally conducted research. Description of the various premixes as well as guidance for managing troublesome weeds are also part of the guide.

Ag Special Use Permits on State Owned Land – Bidding Open Until 3pm, Friday March 1.
The NJ Department of Environmental Protection is putting out to bid Agriculture Special Use Permits on land owned by the Department and managed by the Division of Fish and Wildlife. The Special Use Permits (SUP) will afford more farmers access to agricultural opportunities on State lands. For generations, the Department has worked closely with farmers to the mutual benefit of agriculture, our natural resources, and our resource users.
The bids are open to all interested farmers. Bids must be received by 3:00 p.m. Friday, March 1, 2019.

- Processing Tomatoes
- Fresh Market Sweet Corn
- as well as Whole Farm Revenue Protection

2019 NJ State Agricultural Convention & Trade Show – Feb 5, 6, 7
Harrah’s Resort & Waterfront Conference Center – Atlantic City
- Rutgers Cooperative Extension agents and specialists have finished the educational sessions with topics covering a wide range of topics.
- The Vegetable Growers Association says the trade show is just about sold out with industry vendors from near and far.
- The NJ Dept of Agriculture has shared the preliminary schedule for the State Board of Agriculture’s policy sessions.

Rutgers Cooperative Extension is hosting the RU Ready to Farm Beginner Farmer Workshop during the New Jersey Agricultural Convention & Trade Show at Harrah’s Resort & Waterfront Conference Center in Atlantic City on Thursday, February 7, 2019 from 8:30 am – 4 pm.
