Highlights from this year’s program include a session on “What Chefs Want” in regards to ethnic in specialty crops, growing vine crops in high tunnels, and choosing tomato varieties. An organic session will highlight pest management issues and a retail marketing session will examine agritourism from a farmer’s viewpoint. Other topics that will be on the agenda are; sweet corn, State Policy Issues, a workshop for new wine grape growers, peppers, energy, field & forage crops, small fruit, and wholesale marketing . You will hear from some exciting speakers, such as, Richard Raid, PhD, Professor of Plant Pathology, (IFAS) an expert on emerging plant diseases, and a session about the “super” weed, Palmer Amaranth. Attendees will receive pesticide credits in most of these sessions.
In-depth workshops on food safety and basil downy mildew will allow attendees to gain valuable insight on these important topics. Food safety is always a major topic and farmers attending this meeting learn how to comply with the latest food safety requirements.
The East Coast’s largest trade show highlights vendors and representatives offering wide range of agricultural products and services will run concurrently with the educational program. Additionally, the New Jersey Department of Agriculture will be hosting their 100th State Agricultural Convention where representatives from over 100 agricultural organizations meet to set policy for the coming year.
